The Primarc UV curing lamp is a medium-pressure mercury-arc lamp, which produces high intensity ultraviolet light. These lamps are well proven and widely used for the curing of inks and coatings. All Primarc UV curing lamps are manufactured from high-clarity, vitreous silica, normally referred to as quartz. Though expensive, quartz exhibits high transparency to ultraviolet light, particularly at the short-wave end of the spectrum where over 90% of the UV energy generated is transmitted through the quartz. The electrode components are also manufactured from the highest quality materials ensuring long and reliable lamp life. We also manufacture a range of metal halide versions, offering a wider range of spectral outputs. UV Lamp Life Medium-pressure mercury arc lamps do not typically deteriorate suddenly. Rather, the UV output declines gradually, as the UV transparency of the quartz body deteriorates. The quartz changes from optically clear to opaque, thus filtering out all useful UV. The rate of decline depends on a number of factors, including the switching frequency of the lamp, lamp and electrode cooling efficiency, accurately matched power control, and the cleanliness of the lamp surface. Since the lamp may operate electrically for many thousands of hours after it ceases to emit adequate UV light, lamp life is measured in hours of useful UV output rather than electrical lamp life. When used correctly, Primarc UV curing lamps will provide 1000 hours of useful life. All Primarc lamps are warranted against manufacturing defects. Primarc curing lamps are manufactured in lengths from 6 cm (2.4 inches) to more than 360 cm (12 feet), and at power outputs to over 600 watts per cm (1520 watts per inch). Primarc manufactures a complete range of lamps for all popular UV systems andapplications. Lamps can also be manufactured to meet your specific requirements. For filtered systems, Primarc cooling tubes are also available. Technical Specifications Envelope: High clarity vitreous silica (quartz)
